Description
The process for moving an existing charity to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) will depend on the structure of the existing charity. If your charity is an association or a charitable trust (an unincorporated charity), the process will involve setting up a new CIO and then transferring the assets of the existing charity to the new CIO registered for that purpose. If your existing charity is a charitable company, you can convert the company to a CIO without setting up a new CIO.
Our approach is to offer you a free initial telephone consultation about your proposal to help you to decide if moving to a CIO structure is the right option for you
If you then decide to use our Convert to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation service, we will use our extensive knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework that applies to charities to guide you through the process of setting up a new CIO or converting your charitable company to a CIO structure.
We will also apply to register a new CIO or convert your company to a CIO with the Charity Commission. We will help you to collate all the relevant information and documents needed to support the application and complete and submit the application form on your behalf. We will then deal with all correspondence with the Charity Commission until a registration or conversion decision has been made
